Upload to Steam workshop

Requirements to upload your mod to the Steam workshop:

  • Have the mod working in singleplayer
  • Have a thumbnail

The Mod ID (Steamid) does not matter at all for the initial mod upload, Steam will update the id of your mod to the new Steam workshop id, assigned by Steam.

Launch the game, in the main menu navigate to 'Settings' -> 'Mods' -> 'Upload To Workshop' and select your mod. Chose the visibilty of your mod, you may change this in future. By clicking 'Submit New Mod' you finally upload your mod to the workshop.

Once your mod is uploaded to the workshop, Steam assigned a new id to your mod. It is important(!) to update the id in Avofactory. There are multiple methods of determining your mods id:

  1. In the main menu go to 'Settings' -> 'Mods'. Select your mod, at the top right of your screen you will see the id of your mod. Copy this or click the id of your mod to open the mod in Steam workshop and then see method 2.
  2. Open your mod in the Steam workshop. The link in your browser will look like this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1720259598. The last part of the link 'id=....' is the important part: the numbers are your mods id.
  3. Open the modconfig.lua file of your mod inside of your user folder, the id got update. Copy the property id of that file (requires a little bit of undestanding how Lua works).

Once you got your mod id, go to the 'My Mods' page and edit the mod you just uploaded. Insert the id into the field 'Mod ID (Steamid)' and press save. Below the fields there will appear a link to the Steam workshop. If this link leads to the workshop page of your mod, you configured the id correctly. Else you did not.

Keep in mind: when your mod is not public, you will not be able to your workshop page when you are not logged in to Steam in your browser.
